Our Whānau Ākonga Teacher Conferences will be held after school from Tuesday 4 August to Thursday 6 August and Monday 10 August. These meetings are an opportunity to talk with your child's teacher about their learning, progress, and goals.

How to book your conference

Bookings are made through the Skool Loop App.

Open the Skool Loop app.
Select Bookings.
Choose Whānau Ākonga Teacher Conferences.
Select your child's teacher.
Choose your preferred date and time.
Enter your details and select Book Interview to confirm your booking.

Please note: If you are booking conferences for more than one child, we recommend leaving a gap between appointments so you have enough time to attend each meeting.

The Jumping June prizes are ready to be ordered. The following tamariki are able to choose their prizes from their Jumping June fundraising page, however they have have to be ordered by the teacher in charge (Whaea Arona).

Please contact Whaea Arona on aronat@kawakawa.school.nz with the details of the items you wish to order for your child. There are 10 tiers and depending on how much your child has raised, you can only order from certain tiers. The orders will be placed at the end of this week so be prepared for your child to choose their own item(s) if you don't contact Whaea Arona in time.

Kia ora e te whānau,

We wanted to let you know that scabies is currently spreading within our community, and we are seeing an increased number of cases at our kura.

We have support from Ngāti Hine Health Trust and our Public Health Nurse, Jacqui Wallace, to help screen students who may have scabies.

If you do not want your child to be screened at school, please contact the school office. If you think your child is showing signs of scabies, we encourage you to have them checked by your GP.

If a student is identified as needing treatment, we will contact their whānau directly.

Treatment involves:

Visiting your GP to obtain a prescription for scabies cream or lotion.
Applying the first treatment to all members of the household at the same time.
Washing bedding and clothing, and vacuuming soft furnishings to help remove any mites.
Applying a second treatment 7 days later and repeating the cleaning of clothing and household items.
We ask that whānau carefully check everyone in the household and complete the full treatment process to prevent reinfection.

If a student continues to have an active infection, we will ask that they complete the treatment process in isolation and return to school after 7 days with medical clearance from their GP.

Kia ora whānau,

We have recently had a few incidents where glass containers have broken in students' bags and on the school grounds. Broken glass poses a safety risk to our students and staff.

To help keep everyone safe, please ensure your child brings their food and drinks to school in plastic or other non-glass containers only. Please do not send glass bottles, jars, or lunch containers to school.

Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone.
