Kia ora whānau,

We would like to let you know that there have been confirmed cases of chicken pox within our kura. 

The public health nurse recommends being on the lookout for symptoms over the next 21 days.  These may present as a fever, tiredness or feeling unwell in general, a runny nose and sore throat (similar to a cold), which then leads to a blister-like rash. 

If these symptoms appear, you should keep your child home from school. 

Please let us know if your child is away sick so that we are able to correctly record their medical absence in our student management system.

                                     Bay of Islands College Out of Zone Enrolments 2027

The School Board invites Out of Zone applications from whānau who are wishing to enrol their child(ren) at Bay of Islands College for 2027.

The schools enrolment scheme details including the school zone boundaries are available on our website or from the school office.

The last day for receipt of applicants is Wednesday 2nd September 2026

The Board has determined that 20 places with a priority to Year 9 students will  be available for out of zone students in 2027.

If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the 20 places available, students will be selected by ballot with the priority to Year 9 students.  If a ballot is required it will be held on Wednesday 9th September 2026

Parents will be informed of the outcome within three school days of the ballot being held.

Chromebook Kawa of Care Hui – This Thursday 13 August

Whaea Kylie will be holding a Chromebook Kawa of Care hui for all whānau with tamariki who have, or will have, a school Chromebook.

This hui will briefly cover the Chromebook Kawa of Care, cyber safety, and your responsibilities as a parent or caregiver in supporting your child's use of their device.

Please note: Attendance at this hui is required if you would like your child to be able to take their Chromebook home on weekdays, weekends, or during the school holidays.

Please check your child's school bag for their photo package when they arrive home.
